postheadericon Golf Classic Fundraiser A Huge Success

Castletownroche National School –The Parents Association in conjunction with the Board of Management and school staff held our fundraising Golf Classic on Saturday 24th May last in Doneraile Golf Club

Mother Nature may not have been kind to us on the day, but this did not stop our enthusiastic golfers, with 35 teams participating throughout the day.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all, who battled the elements and made this such a well attended and successful fun day out. We would also like to thank Connor Hannan and Tom Meade of Doneraile Golf Club and Richard Magnier & Donal Mellerick for their help and assistance in the build up to the Classic and throughout the day making sure that everything ran smoothly.

The raffle and Presentation of prize winners took place on Saturday evening in The Castle Arms Bar, Castletownroche. Again this was very well supported and we would like to thank Donal Cotter for providing such a fabulous nights entertainment, and to Nora and Mick Twohig and staff for the use of the function room and the finger food they provided on the night.

Principal Mrs Laura O’Hara and Parents Association Chairman Eugene O’Shaughnessy made two lovely speeches on the night and thanked all the tee box sponsors and raffle sponsors; they also thanked everyone who took part in the Golf Classic; special thank you also went to past pupils who could not make it on the day, but were generous enough to make a donation to the fundraiser.

There was also a special presentation on the night to Frances Power in recognition of the huge amount of work she put into the fundraiser, both herself and Jimmy put alot of time and effort in this.

There were party packs on the day given out to each team at registration and we would like to thank Kathy O’Neil for putting the bags together with Frances.

Finally we would like to thank the Parents Association, Board of Management, school staff and everyone who supported the event and gave so generously, the money raised will make a huge difference to our school, and ensure we continue to provide our children with best opportunities and facilities to excel academically and socially at Castletownroche National School.
