Board of Management

The Board of Management has legal responsibility for the overall running of the school. It serves for a term of four years and a new Board was formed in November 2015. The members of the current board are:

Principal and Teachers’ Representative: Marcia Howard/Gillian Nagle
Parents’ Representatives: Eugene O’Shaughnessy/Leslie Sheehan
Community Representatives: Sara O’Callaghan/Tommy o’Leary
Chairman: Timothy Foley

The Board of Management is acting on behalf of the patron (Bishop William Crean of Cloyne), and in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills. It operates as ‘a corporate body’. This means that:

• the board acts as one unit No member of the Board acts on their own accord. All decisions at Board Meetings are made as a Board.
  The Principal of the school is charged with the day to day running of the school and the decisions that need to be made in her daily role. From time to time the Principal may seek clarification from the Board or the Department of Education on general school business.
• the nominated parents and teacher, once on the Board, do not act in a representative or communicative role. This means that the parents and teacher nominees on the Board are not a lobby group for the parents/teachers of this school but rather offer the Board meetings a perspective from a parent’s or teacher’s point of view.
  If members of the local community/parents/teachers want to address a matter to the Board, they’re asked to communicate in writing to the Board or can discuss the issue with the Principal who may be able to clarify matters.

The Principal is responsible for the day to day running of the school and will be happy to address any concerns parents may have. A copy of Complaints Procedures can be found on this website.
